The 2014 ICC World Twenty20 was the 5th ICC World Twenty20 competition. It took place in Bangladesh in three cities — Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet. Sri Lanka won the tournament, defeating India in the final at Mirpur Stadium, Dhaka.

Sixteen countries participated. The 8 seeded countries entered in the Super 10 stage. They were:
- Australia
- England
- India
- New Zealand
- Pakistan
- South Africa
- Sri Lanks
- West Indies
Group Stage[edit | edit source]
The remaining 8 countries were split into 2 groups of 4 with the winners qualifying into the Super 10. Bangladesh won Group A ahead of Nepal, Afghanistan and Hong Kong. Netherlands won Group B ahead of Zimbabwe, Ireland and United Arab Emirates.
Super 10[edit | edit source]
Netherlands joined Group 1 along with England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh joined Group 2 along with Australia, India, Pakistan and West Indies.
Finals[edit | edit source]
Sri Lanka won Group 1 and played Group 2 runners-up, West Indies. India won Group 2 and played Group 1 runners-up, South Africa. Sri Lanka and India won their semi finals with Sri Lanka defeating India in the final.
