The 2016 ICC World Twenty20 was the 6th ICC World Twenty20 competition. It took place in India in seven cities — Bangalore, Dharamsala, Kolkata, Mohali, Mumbai, Nagpur, and New Delhi. West Indies won the tournament, defeating England in the final at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Sixteen countries participated. The 8 seeded countries entered in the Super 10 stage. They were:
- Australia
- England
- India
- New Zealand
- Pakistan
- South Africa
- Sri Lanks
- West Indies
Group Stage[edit | edit source]
The remaining 8 countries were split into 2 groups of 4 with the group winners qualifying into the Super 10. Bangladesh won Group A ahead of Netherlands, Oman and Ireland. Afghanistan won Group B ahead of Zimbabwe, Scotland and Hong Kong.
Super 10[edit | edit source]
Afghanistan joined Group 1 along with England, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies. Bangladesh joined Group 2 along with Australia, India, New Zealand and Pakistan.
Finals[edit | edit source]
West Indies won Group 1 and played Group 2 runners-up, India. New Zealand won Group 2 and played Group 1 runners-up, England. West Indies and England won their semi finals with West Indies defeating England in the final.
